One day, 15 years ago I volunteered to do a cake for my daughter's Varsity Basketball banquet. After a LOT of planning, I made the cake. It was fun to do - and people seemed to like it. Since that day, I made a cake here or there. The requests for cakes from friends and family started becoming more regular. Then, people started asking where my bakery was and if I had business cards. I laughed and thought - this is just a hobby. After my daughter found a cake decorating contest in Central New York - I figured why not?- let's see what real bakers think of my cakes. After weeks of planning & creating, and a "cake car ride" from Avon to Ithaca ~ the "M & M Cake" won its division, the People's Choice Award and the Overall Grand Prize! It was an amazing day and a turning point. I am a firm believer in things happening for a reason - and many things in my life aligned to get me to this point. I truly love planning and creating cakes (I literally dream about them).  The feeling when a child smiles in awe of a birthday cake or an expectant mom at a baby shower gives me a big hug or an adult says "that cannot be a cake" - those great moments made the decision to open The Cake Place a lot easier. Now we have had our shop for two years and it has been crazy!! From winning Livingston County's Chamber of Commerce 2016 "Most Promising New Enterprise" Award to competing on "Cake Wars" it has been insane!I I have incredibly supportive friends and family that told me to go for it! Their support really made this happen. 

 

Since we opened, we have created 100s of unique celebration cakes for birthday, baptisms, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, baby showers, gender reveals, wedding showers, anniversaries, store openings, corporate parties, cakes for local radio and tv personalities and cakes for every day!!, We have been an honored part of weddings in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Oswego, Corning and all over Western and Central NY - in so many amazing venues - barns, hotels, homes, Inns - indoor and outdoor.  Most importantly, we have donated to events for Golisano Children's Hospital, Make A Wish, Teresa House, Icing Smiles, Catholic Charities, St. Agnes School, Avon Central School, The Epilepsy-Pralid Chocolate Ball, St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center and many others.
